ABOUT ADVENTURE COMMUNITY CHURCH

The purpose of Adventure Community Church is summarized in a single sentence based on these two key Bible verses spoken by Jesus:

The Great Commandment:

"...'Love the Lord your God with all your heart ... soul ... and mind'.  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself'. All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.

-Matthew 22:37-40

The Great Commission:

"Jesus said, Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

-Matthew 28:19-20

We believe a great commitment to the great commandment and the great commission will grow a great Christian and a great church.

Below is more in-depth information about our beliefs.

Please also see our statement of faith.

Our Mission…

To guide people into a fully committed relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Vision...

To be a community of REAL PEOPLE, dealing with REAL LIFE and following a REAL GOD together and experiencing the personal and unique ADVENTURE he has for each of us!

Our Purpose...

To create ENVIRONMENTS where people are encouraged and equipped to KNOW Jesus Personally and Passionately through worship; GROW in Spiritual Maturity, and in Community with others; GO Serve and Share Christ with our world.

Our Denomination...

Adventure Community Church is, first and foremost, a Christian church. We are all about Jesus! People may ask “well are you Baptist, Lutheren, Pentacostal…” Well, technically I guess you could say we are non-denominational. The Baptist General Conference is interesting because it's a "conference" of churches that voluntarily associate, or affiliate, with each other. We love the "BGC", what they believe, their heart and their support. In saying that there are a few other organizations and ministries that we affiliate with as well. Currently, we affiliate ourselves with the Baptist General Conference (www.bgcworld.org), Willow Creek Association (www.willowcreek.com), and the Purpose Driven Church Ministries (www.purposedriven.com).

Our Values...

-Health

We believe healthy things grow! That’s why being healthy in everything we do is so important. We want to try and be as healthy as possible in our relationship with God, with our spouses, our friends, our parents and kids, those we serve with, etc. You get the idea. We don’t want to be fake and phony. We want to be healthy and have healthy relationships.

-Balance

What the church should be all about was summed up in two sections of verses in the Bible … Matt. 28:19,20 (the great commission) and Matt. 22:36-40 (the great commandment). Five purposes are found in those verses … Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Serving and Evangelism. We’ve condensed them into three words … KNOW, GROW and GO. One doesn’t hold more importance than the other. Each have equal value and deserve equal attention.

-Authenticity

Everything we do should be about gettin’ real. It’s not a show and people eventually see when something’s fake and someone’s a phony. We hope people see in our teaching, our worship, our relationships, etc that we’re real people. What you see is what you get … authenticity.

-Relevant teaching

The Bible describes itself as “living and active”. We want people to know what the Bible says, understand it and see that it’s a relevant and practical book for today. What it says can actually help us and change us!

-Inspiring Worship

Worship is really a lifestyle, but in our culture when people talk worship they’re usually talking about the music. Our worship through music will be contemporary, passionate and inspiring ... creating an atmosphere of expectation. An expectation that God is going to show up and meet with us and work in each of our lives!

-Faith

The Bible says “without faith, it’s impossible to please God.” Let that sink in for a moment. Faith invokes images of risk, trust and adventure. Each of us needs to discover and live the personal and unique adventure God has for us!

-Fun

No grumpy people allowed! We want to have fun and enjoy life and each other. The Bible says “laughter is good medicine for the soul”. We want a relaxed atmosphere that invites laughter, humor and creativity.
