LIFE GROUPS

Doing Life Together

Relationships are a big deal to God. He himself lives in relationship as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus was constantly surrounded by people when he was here. He was surrounded by the crowds, then he had roughly 70 or so that followed him around, then he had his twelve disciples, then he had his three favorite (Peter, James and John) and then even his most favorite (John). We were created for relationships. We were created to have a relationship with God and we were created to have relationships with each other. God himself said it wasn’t good for man to be alone. Relationships are a big deal to God and they are a big deal to us.

We want to keep things as simple as possible. Most churches will have some kind of small group ministry. As I thought about what we wanted and what to name it I kept coming back to simply “doing life together”, thus “Life Groups” were born.

Life Groups are truly the heart and soul of Adventure. We ultimately don’t know how large God will grow Adventure, but what we do know is that the larger we grow the smaller we must also grow. People are important to us! We continue to place great value on these relationships and as Adventure grows we will need to be committed to getting smaller. Life Groups act as small “house churches”.

A Life Group is a small group of up to 40 people who are connected relationally for the sake of building authentic community and living out God’s Mission in their culture. They will not always function in a traditional Small Group model where there is a facilitator and host that simply organize and make the group functional as they follow a prescribed curriculum. Life Groups will evolve and take on whatever form the group chooses. No matter what the group looks like it will always have the DNA of our church built into it (elements of Truth, Relationships and Mission). In spite of the differences in groups, all of the communities should pray for each other, love each other, take care of each other, socialize together, be discipled together, and attend our Sunday Gathering together. Life Groups serve as the primary place that people grow in their faith and participate in God’s Mission here in Surprise.

There is a listing of Life Groups on our website as well as on the info table as you exit the church. We do encourage you to connect with people on Sundays and choose a Life Group because of relationships that are built. We believe that the best Life Groups are the ones with the strongest relationships.
